Midi Typesetter
MIDI Typesetter is a tool for producing audio-visual typographic experiments. A MIDI controller triggers text styling parameters such as kerning, tracking, italic, bold. Each visual parameter is partnered with a unique sound that triggers simultaneously: creating an audio-visual pairing. The machine then rhythmically triggers these in layered sequences to create an audio-visual composition. The program can interface with a printer to automatically print the output of the software: producing a unique documentation of the performance in the form of printed matter.
This tool can be used in a live performance context or for experiments at home. In this demonstration I translate my dissertation into an abstract publication.
